This book is absolutely adorable!

As I read the narrator's reasons for why he should have a stegosaurus, I found myself wanting him to have one! The illustrations are the cutest. Eventually, the audience finds out why the little boy wants a stegosaurus so badly: he's found a dinosaur egg!

In the end, the egg hatches and the boy begins to beg his mother for a T-Rex! This story is a great example of a persuasive narrator, and I would use this book to show students the power of persuasion.

Jul 01, Meg McGregor rated it really liked it Shelves: read-to-lexi. This boy will most likely grow up to be a great lawyer because he can sure put up a terrific argument as to why his Mother should let him have a stegosaurus!

I love the illustrations in this book. This book is about a boy who really wants a stegosaurus, and comes up with ways that the dinosaur will benefit him and everyone else.

Sep 20, Anna Sommer rated it it was amazing Shelves: read-aloud-book. This funny book is a kid favorite! I have never read this to a child and had them not laugh! It's an easy book to "perform," because it lends itself to a lot of dramatics which make it much more fun to read aloud and to listen to. In the story, the little boy is repeatedly asking his mom if he can have a stegosaurus and giving all of these funny, outrageous reasons as to why he should be able to have one.

If there was a parade, he could see everything, if they went trick-or-treating together, he This funny book is a kid favorite!

If there was a parade, he could see everything, if they went trick-or-treating together, he would definitely get good treats, if his teacher forgot a bus for the field trip, they could ride his stegosaurus. However, at the end of the book, we discover why he really keeps asking his mom, because he found a giant egg and it's about to hatch.

The book then ends with him asking his mom if he can have a tyrannosaurus rex hinting that the giant egg was not a stegosaurus, but a T. Rex instead.

The illustrations add to the silliness of the book, because it recreates all of the outrageous scenarios the little boy has created in his head. The little boy and stegosaurus are also super cute! The pictures fill up the entire page, while the words rest on top, which I think is great for a read-aloud, because the pictures are easy to see. This book is more fun than anything, but I think it could work to teach foreshadowing or context clues at the end especially, because of the indication that the egg was not a stegosaurus.

But, mostly this book is just a really funny story to read that is sure to get some laughs! It would be great for a science lesson to get them interested in dinosaurs, but then correct all the ideas that the book gave them about dinosaurs.

It's perfect for lower grades, kindergarten, first, maybe even second grade. Oct 30, Jenna Parsons rated it it was amazing. This book is a very cute book.
